Organic Optoelectronic Thin Film Devices


Organic semiconducting small molecules and polymers are emerging materials due to their potential to fabricate flexible optoelectronic devices on large area.

Our research focus is on new device concepts and materials development for organic solar cells, organic photodetectors and organic light-emitting electrochemical cells.

As active organic materials, we focus on the class of cyanine dyes that are interesting due to their tunable absorption ranges and high extinction coefficients,

their ability to self-organize into low-dimensional nanostructures and the presence of mobile ionic charge, whose controlled arrangement at junctions can be used to control the flow of electronic current.
